Chat
Discord and Telegram GIF size
Discord and Telegram play compact loops more reliably than long, wide files. Aim for a few seconds, 8–10 fps, and 320–480px. WebP is usually smaller than GIF for the same trim.
ClipGIF can fill those settings with one tap: Discord GIF (about 8 MB guidance), Discord sticker 320×320, Telegram GIF, and Telegram sticker 512×512. Processing stays in the browser.
Make a loop that chat apps will play
Step 1
Start from a short source
Pick the moment, not the whole recording. A 3–6 second reaction usually beats a 15 second clip that nobody watches twice.
Step 2
Tap a chat preset
On the converter, choose Discord GIF, Discord sticker, Telegram GIF, or Telegram sticker. That fills width, fps, quality, format, trim, and square crop when needed.
Step 3
Fine-tune if you want
Drag the square to reframe a sticker. Switch GIF or WebP. Shorten the trim further if the estimate still looks heavy.
Step 4
Download and post
Create the loop, check the preview size, then attach the file in Discord or Telegram. The original video never left this browser.
Discord
The Discord GIF preset uses about 6 seconds, 10 fps, 480px, and Economy, which usually keeps the file small enough to send. Many chats still play best when a GIF stays around 8 MB or under. Duration, fps, width, and GIF color all add weight — changing one setting is not always enough.
The Discord sticker preset turns on square crop at 320×320. Drag the crop box if the subject is off-center.
Telegram
Telegram treats GIFs as looping clips. The Telegram GIF preset uses compact WebP at 480px and 8 fps. If WebP cannot be created, ClipGIF saves a GIF instead.
The Telegram sticker preset is 512×512 WebP with a short trim. ClipGIF makes the file; you post it yourself. Official sticker packs can have extra size and format rules.
Why a file still looks huge
Longer trims add frames. Higher fps adds frames. Wider output adds pixels. GIF High quality uses more colors and a heavier dither. Those stack. WebP, Economy, and a shorter cut usually help more than raising quality.
If a Discord GIF still lands over about 8 MB, shorten the trim first, then drop fps or width, then try WebP.
