Convert video to GIF without uploading

ClipGIF converts a short video to an animated GIF or WebP on this device. The clip stays in the browser tab. Nothing is sent to a ClipGIF server to convert.

Open the converter, drop a file, trim the moment you want, then download the loop. Use it for reactions, chat, or a quick preview without creating an account.

Open the converter

How to convert in the browser

  1. Step 1

    Open the converter

Go to the ClipGIF home page. There is no sign-in. The page is the tool.

  2. Step 2

    Drop a short clip

Choose an MP4, WebM, or MOV file. Keep it under 80 MB. A few seconds of footage is enough for most GIFs.

  3. Step 3

    Trim start and end

Drag the handles so only the useful moment is included. Shorter trims make smaller files and finish faster.

  4. Step 4

    Create and download

Set fps, width, and quality if you want, pick GIF or WebP, then create the loop. Preview it and save it to your device.

What “in the browser” means

When you pick a video, this tab reads it locally. Conversion and preview happen on your computer or phone. Closing the tab discards the clip unless you downloaded the GIF.

The site still loads ordinary page files (layout, scripts, sample clip if you tap it). Your video is not among those requests.

When this workflow fits

Use it when you do not want a clip sitting on someone else’s disk: a private screen recording, a work demo, or a chat reaction from a local file.

If the tab struggles, pick a smaller source file, shorten the trim, and drop width to 320–480px. Phones are stricter than desktops.

FAQ

Does ClipGIF upload my video?+

No. Processing stays in this browser. We do not store your clips on a server.

Do I need an account?+

No. Open the converter, pick a file, and download the loop. There is no login.

Which formats work?+

MP4 and WebM work in most browsers. MOV often works in Safari. Output is GIF or animated WebP. If the player cannot preview a file, creating the loop may still work.

What happens if I close the tab?+

The video and unsaved preview leave with the tab. Download the file if you want to keep it.
